Go With The Flawless

Flawless, a leading chain of dermatology and cosmetic care products, has launched a new product and service line called The Real Gentleman (RG) collection with young heartthrob Richard Gutierrez as its latest image model.

Richard shows that only a real gentleman can wear pink in the Flawless campaign.

The RG line is a combination of products and services designed to answer the needs of men who are concerned about the health of their skin.

RG soap contains salicylic acid and refined coconut oil suitable for acne-prone and oily skin. The RG toner contains witchazel and azelog to remove deep-seated dirt on the face and neck, and restore the skin's natural pH balance. The RG cream has vitamins C and E as well as aloe vera and pineapple extract to soothe and moisturize. The RG facial uses a reaffirming mask made of active vegetal charcoal that absorbs impurities and improves the skin's hydration.

Flawless clinics now include branches at Robinsons Ermita, Greenhills Shopping Center, and in Olongapo City.

Jaundice

a condition characterized by the unusual presence of bile pigment circulating in the blood. Jaundice is caused by the bile produced in the liver, which should go into the intestines, passing instead into the circulation because of some obstruction. The symptoms of jaundice include a yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes.

Jaundice, also known as icterus (attributive adjective: icteric), is a yellowish discoloration of the skin, the conjunctival membranes over the sclerae (whites of the eyes), and other mucous membranes caused by hyperbilirubinemia (increased levels of bilirubin in the blood). This hyperbilirubinemia subsequently causes increased levels of bilirubin in the extracellular fluids. Typically, the concentration of bilirubin in the plasma must exceed 1.5 mg/dL, three times the usual value of approximately 0.5 mg/dL, for the coloration to be easily visible. Jaundice comes from the French word jaune, meaning yellow.

One of the first tissues to change color as bilirubin levels rise in jaundice is the conjunctiva of the eye, a condition sometimes referred to as scleral icterus. However, the sclera themselves are not "icteric" (stained with bile pigment) but rather the conjunctival membranes that overlie them. The yellowing of the "white of the eye" is thus more properly conjunctival icterus.

Soviet Stars Go West

Imagine winning $100,000 and only being able to spend $50 a day. That's what happened in 1988 when a Soviet doubles tennis team won at Wimbledon. Under the Soviet system, they were only allowed to spend about $50 a day in England.

This may soon change. We may soon see many Soviet stars in several fields allowed to market their talents in the West.

A new venture, called Moscovy Management International, will soon be negotiating on behalf of Soviet scientists, artists, actors, performers, fashion models and sports stars. The venture aims to help the stars retain more of their money and market their talents freely.

Gary Kasparov, world chess champion, will almost certainly be one of the stars involved in this venture. He is a key figure in the move to bring Soviet talent to the West, and was one of the first to gain more control over his own career.

Canadians will be especially interested in luring the best ice-hockey stars to their teams. And basketball teams in America will be taking a closer look at the Soviet Olympic basketball teams.

The Soviet Union is the only country ever to have beaten the United States at basketball in the Olympics, in 1972 and again in 1988.

More Soviet sports stars in the West will add to the growing internationalization of sports.
